Hmmm.... perhaps it's a handle to pick up a false bottom? The one for my kettle has a bail that could be grabbed with that. :confused:

Can't tell from the pic, how big is it? Kinda looks like a cage twister.
 
Looks like the hook for the hanger from a turkey fryer if you ask me. I could be wrong though.
 
I looked up cage twisters online, little wooden handle with a small hook. This thing is way overkill for that, made from 1/4" stainless tubing.

All has been revealed. It's a bottle lifter, designed/made by one of the homebrew club members. Used for lifting bottles out of boiling water or sanitizer.
