Chilled at the local home brew store, picked up some random items. Stuck around awhile, and talked with everyone there. I also tried someone's homebrew.

Unrelated and :off:, Im about to make some Jerk marinade for chicken thighs. Mmmm...

Not for beer, but I whipped up a batch of white wine for SWMBO. 1 gal from 3 cans of Welch's white concentrate with a cup of table sigar. 25.7 deg plato so I figure around 13‰ abv. We'll see how it comes out.

Completed the clay tile sewer main tie in to run a new line out to the garage. Began the tie in to the potable water from the house. I am sick of shoveling...

Put together a recipe to brew in a month for my brother... shooting for a kona golden ale clone since it is one of his favorite summer beers to be ready for his birthday in mid June. It will be my first come attempt so we will see how it turns out and how close I get.

Took gravity readings on the black IPA and the maris otter pale mild. Either I have two batches over attenuated or I need to calibrate my refractometer. Also dry hopped the black IPA.

Created two brews. First one an 80/ Scotch Ale, OSG 1.075. Second one a "Two Penney" from the third running's off the mash from the first, OSG 1.033.

Second gravity reading of SMaSH pale ale holding steady at 1.011, so dropped 2oz Cascade in for aroma. My first SMaSH, and absolutely my best pale yet. I'm being converted to the idea of simple beer.

Cleaned up about 4-6 pack worth of pale ale from the bottom of keezer after discovered an annoyingly slow leak from the tubing connection at keg...yay.

Smacked my yeast tonight for my starter in the AM. Kegged the secondary. Racked the primary to the secondary in anticipation of this weekend's brew. (I have a good pipeline now but only so many kegs so I have to use a secondary as a holding point).

I picked up another fermentation bucket so that I can expand my pipeline in the very near future.

Stepped up the starter for the scotch ale I'm brewing on Saturday. Also brewed a 1 gallon black IPA. Oh, and broke my thermometer, thankfully not in the wort and it was after I was done using it for the night :sonofabitch:.

Finally finished delabeling bottles. It was a multi day effort. Trying to decide if I need a ball valve on both the inlet and the outlet of my new pump, or if just one on the outlet is good enough. Any thoughts?

Racked my blonde ale to a keg with priming sugar. I only hope I did it all right. Purged with CO2 a few times and now it sits. I don't have the equipment (or space) to force carb so I'm hoping this works out okay.

Did you use about half as much priming sugar as you would to bottle?

Not today, but last night I checked on my all brett beer. 1.050og down to 1.012 in 12 days. Gonna let it sit around another month and bottle if stable.

Most people just have one on the outlet because they don't want to choke the flow of liquid going into the pump causing it to lose its prime.

Took the latest quiz in the OU on-line brewing course> Missed one. My own stupidity!
Also picked up a floor corker that will do Belgian Bottle corks @ the LHBS along w/ an extra 5 lb. CO2 tank.

Don't put a valve on the inlet of a pump to regulate the flow. It can damage the pump due to induced cavitation from loss of suction head.

I dry hopped 2 carboys. The first on I used a bag with an ounce of leafs and it was tuff to get it into the carboy. The second i just funneled them in. The bag of hops is about 10x the size now so... I look forward to the adventure ahead.

Checked the gravity of my first brew ( Red Ale ) that had been in the bucket for 2 weeks today. It is a brewers best kit and it says to have a FG around 1.011 -1.015. It was at 1.016. Going to leave it for for a few more days then bottle next Friday.

Bottled my IIPA tonight. Tasted and smelled pretty damn good. Can't wait for it to be ready to drink.

Made a pineapple Graf (hopefully to be ready by Easter) based on a basic brewing podcast. Had to make several adjustments on the fly given some ingred I didn't get enough of, and to adjust for high efficiency, but all went well...

I am hopefully going to brainstorm an inexpensive fix to keep my vinator spring (which is all kinked, need to get a replacement for that as well) from bending sideways and getting kinked during use. If its badass, I will post it in the DIY. Testing today, then an order to Mcmaster for a PTFE tube. I almost might go with stainless.
