What do you like to do while mashing?

I tried smoking ribs but they wouldn't fit in my pipe. Seriously I spend my time trying to remember what the hell I forgot to do this time.

Same here. I'm one of those that has to have everything ready to go. Sometimes the alcohol prevents me from remembering everything.

Coffee and breakfast. i like my brewdays to be done by noon or 1, so I'll usually be mashed in by about 7am, with enough time for me to cook bacon & eggs, make coffee, and measure my boil additions.

Breakfast/more coffee, measure out hop additions, try and remember where the hell I put my Whirfloc Tablets and my Fermcap bottle.

I measure the sparge water then take a nap. I usually brew after work, so this short nap is very rejuvenating.

Then I rack the batch I made 2 weeks while boiling.
I drink from the batches I made 6 and 8 weeks ago the whole damn time.

+1 on Coffee and Breakfast. The mash is most important... my sustenance comes in at a close number 2.

Sometimes, when I'm really unprepared, I use the 60 minutes to run fill up my propane bottle that I didn't realize was near-empty (and the spare is empty).

Drink heavily during that hour and constantly check the mash temp, like every 2-3 minutes. Also worry about everything that may go wrong. This assumes I'm off my obsessive/compulsive meds. Otherwise, just relax and watch a movie...

take a swim, medal in the garage, go to the garden, turn the burner on for sparge water with about 15 mins left as the heatstick keeps it warm(i heat all water for the mash and boil together)

Amen to that! But, mostly I have to mow the d**m yard...... Honeydo's etc...
