Hatch chiles showed up at my local grocery store, so I bought a box (25lbs). Roasted and peeled in about three hours. Three very relaxing hours. Once frozen and vac packed, should last me til next August. View attachment 881789View attachment 881790View attachment 881791

Temperature finally dropping a bit here in the South. Actually saw some nighttime temperatures in the upper 60°’s!
Decided that it was just marginally acceptable to fix a pot of chili, especially since I have fresh tomatoes in the garden, and a bunch of wood from a tree I just took down. Upped the Carolina Reaper sauce in this one and it was fantastic! The wife said it was better than sex. I am still trying to figure out whether I have been complimented or insulted. 🤔

Went over to youngest son's place for a pool day and cookout, split a half dozen game hens and gave half one rub and the rest another and grilled them crispy while my DIL whipped up some mac salad with home grown cherry tomatoes and my wife boiled up some corn picked this morning at a local farm. Simple food, really good eats...

Haven’t made these recipes yet but the grilled pineapple coleslaw is making me drool. I’m imagining a pulled pork sandwich topped with it.

I watched that episode too and thought the same thing about the pineapple coleslaw. I agree, I could definitely see it on a pulled pork sandwich. And maybe a slightly drier version used on fish tacos.
So much you could do with that. I’m definitely going to try making it at some point.

Wish I didn't have to drive hours to find these...needless to say, haven't found one of these yet.
This was the first year for targeting them and it paid off. Usually I see the rotten moldy lobsters when I’m looking for fall chanterelles.
They taste great and have a very good texture.

I couldn’t figure out what to do for a late dinner, so I decided breakfast. I make a pretty good fried egg sandwich. We have this sourdough bread that is pretty small so I made two small ones. Egg, sausage patty, Munster cheese, Valentina hot sauce, all grilled in butter and the sausage drippings. And bourbon. Breakfast and bourbon at 9 pm. Nothing wrong with that.

We have Brinner fridays in my house. Actually it has turned into BBB friday. Beverages (of the adult variety), Brinner, and Bonfire (for nice evenings) or Bad movies (for poor/too hot weather) (most recent was "The Dead Don't Die", so bad it's good).

Today is simple pancakes with peanut butter and bananas. Bevvie will probably be Screwdrivers, beermosas, or mimosas. Last week was breakfast burritos and margaritas.
