This is what I ordered for grains....
10.00 lb Pilsner (2 Row) Bel (1.0 SRM) Grain 58.82 %
4.00 lb Vienna Malt (3.0 SRM) Grain 23.53 %
1.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM) Grain 8.82 %
0.50 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 2.94 %
0.50 lb Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 2.94 %
0.50 lb White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) Grain 2.94 %
1.00 oz Columbus (Tomahawk) [14.00 %] (30 min) Hops 17.5 IBU
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (10 min) Hops 3.2 IBU
1.00 oz Citra [13.40 %] (5 min) Hops 4.8 IBU
1 Pkgs California Ale (White Labs #WLP001) Yeast-Ale
And this is what I got.
I didn't notice before mashing but did after.
Yeah, that appears to be some sort of Roasted Grain in there.
So what do you think I have on my hands? I'm hoping the store I got the grain from will be able to help me out. I'm just a bit bummed because I was shooting for a super pale, lightly hopped session beer. My initial Yield was 10 gallons at 1.056 when it was supposed to be 1.042 or so. I ended up diluting it down which means more beer in the end but I was really looking forward to a lighter color.
