So I brewed a Belgian Dubbel recipe but made a few tweaks to it. I call it an American Double because I used cascade hops and I used pure 100% apple syrup from a local orchard. It came out delicious, takes like a dubbel with hints of apple. Do I submit it in the Belgian Dubbel category or in another?

im guessing if you made it right, it should have belgian yeast esters as the dominant flavor. definitely enter it as a dubbel

If you have the fruity esters from the Abbaye yeast, then enter it as a Dubbel. If not, it might do well in the Specialties or "Fruit Beer" category. Heck, enter both and see what the judges think.

competition is limited entries so you can only each beer in 1 category. In a future competition, I definitely will.

Since you added apple juice to it, I would think that it no longer fits in the Dubbel category. I would enter it as a Fruit Beer with the base beer being a Dubbel.

hi, it wasn't apple juice, it was apple syrup. ive seen many people use maple syrup in their dubbels so thats why I chose apple syrup. My local orchard was selling it this year for the first time and through a poll on this site, many people suggested brewing it in a dubbel.
