I have recently come across a 50 gallon stainless steel pot and was wondering if you guys could help me use this in some way. I am new to homebrewing and I am still doing the partial mash version. I would like to eventually switch to all grain. The pot is to nice to just throw away, but I just dont know what I can use it for. Any suggestions?

partial mash, full boil 1bbl batches

better idea: all-grain BIAB, full boil 1bbl batches

What do you think I should use elements or gas. Kinda worried if I used gas because its not a super think gauge of stainless. It could possibly warp.

that picture is hard to tell, is it 50 GALLON (200 quart)? or 50 QUART (12.5 gallon)?

looks like it's on a gas burner, so I guess gas would be OK

You can flame it just make sure it has enough mash to cover the bottom, boiling dry will cause the warping

If it's in fact 50 gallons, I would sell it and use the money to buy something more along the size of what you want to brew.

While the dreams of a 50 gallon kettle are entertaining, the costs of everything else to run at that scale would quickly exceed the value that you've found. Figure out what size batches you want to brew (5 gal, 10 gal) and then probably look at buying equipment one size larger.

Yes.... it sounds like it isn't really worth the hassle...... Just ship it to me and I'll get rid of it for you... heck, being the nice guy that I am I'll even pay the shipping!!!! :D

Seriously though.... A guy can never have too many toys in his toy chest!!!!

My Wife Calls BS on that!!!
