haven't had one of these in a while. Still dig it.

Having a limited edition Sour IPA from Collective Arts Brewing. It's very thirst-quenching, nice sour finish, with just a touch of soap..? Hmmm. I'd buy it again if they brewed it in the future...hope they do, it's a very unique beer. Maybe the 'soapiness' came from the Ekuanot Cryo?

How's it holding up?
Quite well actually. It might be showing the slightest signs of early oxidation, but as you can see, still looks pretty good. It seems just a little more bitter than I remember from the samples I’ve had from you, but for my first try for this style, I’m pretty happy.

Thanks! I like the coffee / caramel look of a nice porter head as well. Something about it makes me hungry. :D

My desk is clean right now (minus the blue marker!) but sometimes it's covered as well. Have to stay somewhat organized from now on, I might have a 350+ fly contract coming up for a bunch of salmon flies. Crossing fingers while drinking a pint of home-brew is good luck, right? :mug:

Oooh! A salmon fly contract was always a good one, at least in Oregon. Folded black and orange salmon fly Indicators were easy money once you figured out how to cut out the bodies efficiently--and not cut the foam with your thread.

Out of curiosity, I googled "salmon fly patterns 2021" and it looks like things haven't changed too much in the past 20 years. I'm glad to see dubbing is still hanging in there and it's not all foam and rubber. I've gotta say, I do not like the gapes on many of those hooks, they're really vicious looking bass and saltwater shapes. I get it, it's a big pattern that's hard to hook up, but still...

It's been a while since I've been able to cast a fly, I don't know what's going on anymore, so I suppose I should shut up.

@Bramling Cross It will be a tough job if I get it, each fly has about 10 steps, with some rolled & trimmed deer hair for good measure! With the supply shortage around the world, some materials are pretty scarce, hopefully everything gets closer to normal soon!

HB Dark Märzen. I took a full bottle sample Tuesday of this week and tried an individual carb. I would say the rest of the beer is ready! It's taken on almost a reddish tinge since everything has dropped out, with amazing malt flavour and a super-clean finish. Definitely brewing this one again!

Spun deer hair, no thanks!

I could never get that down consistently enough to make them profitable.

Edit: Also, it's nice to know that folks are still tying big contracts in North America. Back in the early/mid-90's we sorta took it as gospel that we were the last of the North American tyers. We simply couldn't compete with India...even if their trash couldn't survive a day--or even a single run.

Keep up the good fight, brother! :bigmug:

Another HB NEIPA before bed. I’m absolutely bushed. I spent the whole day hunting deer with my daughter. This is her first year, and unfortunately she missed a couple shots this morning. We got on some other deer through the day, but never had any other good opportunities. Hopefully we get some meat in the freezer tomorrow. I have a license also, but I wanted her to get hers first. The weather is supposed to be pretty wintry tomorrow, so I don’t know what to expect. I don’t seem to have my stamina back after my bought with Covid earlier this month. Carrying backpacks and rifles all day probably didn’t help much either. My joints tend to be really tender now too.
