Ordered a pouch of Mad Fermentaionist Saison blend from Bootleg Biology today. Been trying to figure out recipe what I want to pitch it in for the last couple hours.

I had this HB Cherry Dubbel while contemplating. This thing has really changed character after only a little over a month in the bottle. I do still wish it had a little more “Belgian” but if I can repeat this, I’ll be happy.

Are the Other Half beers all that? There are very few here to choose from. Just got TG here and thought they, Sue and K Sue, were better than any I’ve had. I’ve not brewed a good one yet. Received my Hops today. Trying to figure TH, Trillium, TG, or OH Grain bill. Saved recipes over time, TG is only one I’ve had. ✌🏼
I think there’s a thread on here trying to clone TG pseudo Sue.

A toast to the old backyard spruce. She's coming down tomorrow after many decades of watching over the neighbourhood.

Looks weirdly small in the photo but she's massive in reality.

We felled six very large trees a couple of weeks ago (two were dead already), and I split most of them by hand. I also gave away nearly two truckloads of wood. We've got enough wood for a few years stacked in the backyard. In turn, we planted an apricot tree and have four planter boxes in route. Gonna be an urban garden soon!!

Plum saison bottling bucket dregs @TwistedGray if you want one lemme know. I think these were my plums but I am likely to do a full batch on yours as the sample was nice.

Set one aside, and whenever we happen to trade again, chuck it in?

I know exactly what to brew with that Bootleg yeast! Go to the Mad Fermentationist website. His recipe list contains something called 'Merican Saison. One of the best beers I've ever made. Although he didn't use that yeast for that recipe, it is my understanding that he developed that Bootleg blend because of, or inspired by, that beer. Thanks for the reminder. I've got a six week old pack of that Bootleg yeast in my fridge. I'll be making a starter today!

Merican is high on my list. I was thinking that or L'internationale. Both recipes sounds great to me.

To stay on topic, I am on my third cut of coffee.

Startin' early...just because I've had an awesome day so far, why not have more fun!?

Brewed by '86 Beer' and hey, they were on sale for under $3.00CAD / single. Nice! I bought 7...

That’s a good looking beer. And only $2.16 USD. :mug:

A short pour of HB Cream Ale after cleaning my brewing space, the basement bathroom, and repairing one of the storage cabinets in my wife’s sewing room. Some of the ladies from her quilting club are coming over to sew tomorrow, so I had to make the route to her sewing room, which passes through my brewing space, acceptably presentable. I earned this midday beer.

Yeah...rub it in...:) It's a really nice blonde, even if it's a bitter one.

I thought my store's '6 pack of singles' discount would apply, for almost the same across currencies ( $2.24 CAD each ), but no discount on sale items...boo. :mug:

The only store within 100 miles that offers a decent selection of craft beers charges $1.99 each for a six-pack of singles. All of the available beers would otherwise sell for $9-10 a six pack. I will pay the extra markup a few times a year just to have some “reference beers” of styles I would like to build a recipe for.

I hear you, I'm just starting out with brewing beer 'full-time' ( done 4, just tried my first 1/2 grain/extract ) so I wouldn't know what ingredients to think of during the tasting! ;)

My particular store was selling them at a discount this week "...because we have too many of them..." Yikes! 🙃

I'll be heading back there later this week to see if there are any left!

Cheers!

Back on topic, heading into the second '86 Beer' and smiling easy.

False alarm. It's a shortcut on my phone... boy I'm getting old. 97F and forgot to bring something to drink. If there's any beer drinkers out there have one for me.

Having this one for you, PMan. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
for a small additional fee, I'll throw in a shot of rum.

Had to get ghetto after the last windstorm. No way the chimanea was gonna burn thru tons of wood

Proper burnware:

Definitely be cautious about water hitting that chimnea if it's ever hot...we just cracked ours in three spots by it being outside and apparently hit with water (?).

Definately. I wouldn't be surprised that air bubbles in clay and quality would cause a boom. First one I had lasted 10 years. This new one one's cracked all over the place.

Bought my first one after visiting Carmel by the sea a long time ago at a restaurant. They had on e roaring per table on outside dining.

On topic. Another golden path and trillium
