A question to my friends who have done the Food and Wine festival in Epcot previously:
Does the Event Center sell bottles of wine/liquor that you enjoyed from the pavilions?
Its our five year anniversary while we are there, Id like to pick up a bottle of the pineapple infused sake and a few bottles of the pineapple wine. Even better would be if I could get them through concierge services and delivered to the room on the sly to surprise her.

Why all the pineapple? I mean... I think I know the answer, but you'll have to use your googlefu.

We were married in Hawaii. Everything had pineapple in it lol. Her favorite drink there was the pineapple champagne, and its impossible to get here...I would have to order an entire case at a significant mark up so the state gets its cut.

Wait! Aren't you accustomed to being raped for alcohol in PA?!?

it was only maybe 18.00 per bottle in Hawaii. Even considering taxes, I can't justify paying the state a 55 point mark up.

I heard Cantillon was cheap in Belgium... ;)

Not really the same but if it keeps the wife happy, I'm all for it.

Luckily mine lost her taste for anything but pale malt forward lagers after kiddo #2. Otherwise we would be broke.

Yes, but at 385.00 for a case of 12 bottles? That's a hard pass.

Ever try making Pineapple wine? Get some white wine yeast or champagne yeast, some Langer's Pineapple Juice, some sugar, and a carboy. Some yeast nutrient would be a good idea too. Sounds like I have a new wine project to work on... Thanks

You make very valid points. Checking the park info it seems that they have samplings of both the sake and the wine. If they offer it there for retail, which it seems that they might, I'm going to buy in bulk while I'm there. If not, I'm going to pull the trigger and get it delivered to our hotel from Hawaii direct, either way I get the screw the state out of its money.

I've done pineapple mead, but no pineapple wine...yet :D
I used a metric **** ton of actual pineapple for the mead. I came real close to just opening up the bung and letting it get some natural bacteria. Fortunately, I didn't and it came out very well balanced between sweet and tart.

That reminds me, I need to check on my pineapple wine. Might be close to time to bottle and wait a couple years for it to be ready.

There is a place out of St Pete that makes all kinds of fruit wines/sparkling wines, I can't speak of the quality. www.floridawine.com
Looks like it's distro'd all over the state.

great info! Thanks Allen.

they will have some Funky Buddha at one of the pavilions that I'm looking for. At last check, Cigar City was being sold at some of the resorts, which would be much fresher then what I'm finding it at some shops lol. I'm looking forward to some Florida stuff, for sure

Try to stop by Knighly Spirits while you are down, 10 minutes from Disney proper via SR417 (toll road), they usually have some pretty good stuff. The owner is tight with CCB, they make an exclusive BA line just for them, el Campeador, so they usually have some decent stuff there.

Now that sounds like a plan! Thanks for the tip

What abv did you get out of yours and what yeast did you use? I have 3 carboys taking up space and need to start some projects. I have to use the tangelo juice I froze from the fruit off my grampas tree soon. I just wish the desert wildflower honey wasn't so expensive.

Jack Keller has never steered me wrong. Used his recipe. Made 6 gallons with 15 pineapples and a 10lb bag of sugar. For the life of me, I cannot find where I wrote down my OG. It has been freakin killing me. I remember taking the reading, but don't remember where I wrote it.
