Water.
And so it begins. View attachment 282401
About a year and a half after the great washing machine flood that lead to gutting and rebuilding two rooms, it's time to tackle the kitchen. Whoever built this house installed the back door wrong. Now there's noticeable rot in about a foot and a half radius around the door. And what's worse is none of the subfloor is treated wood and neither is the bottom plate. I'm ripping out and replacing the entire kitchen floor and the back door this weekend. Much beer will need to be consumed for this project.

Sorry to hear about that - sucks spending time & money fixing stuff a builder should have known better about.

My English Mild that won first place at a local comp last week.

Congrats!

Hey Flocers. Great to see Mark again and tick wobrien at TH.

Wow, and nobody had to do the secret Oerbier chant either! ;) Good catching up with you last night.

No prob I'll take a look. And when are we gonna trade some hb? My pipelines a little thin now but I'm still interested as we discussed awhile back

My pipeline is about depleted too. Once I get past the scout camping trip next weekend I plan on cranking up production, so later this summer?

@WesleyS that sucks. I have learned that the owner of my house who was renting it to his ex wife often did the bare minimal to keep things tidy. If he could use caulk, he did. Unfortunately, that means that there is a large hole that was simply filled with caulk and painted over. The master shower is a hot mess (they used plywood as a tile backer) and everything is just basically wrong. I feel some of your pain.

Iced Coffee.

Had a good time drinking with my alter ego Mark and @TNGabe last night. Drinking water at work now.
Jealous! I need to get up to Tired Hands. Perhaps this summer.
In NC for work. Had a Carolina Brewing Co. Pale Ale (wasn't impressed), a Foothills Hopyum IPA (quite good), and a Mother Earth Sisters of the Moon IPA (pretty good) tonight. No pics so it didn't happen.

Where about in NC?

Diet Sunkist. The thing I hate most about nursing is other nurses half of them think they are the second coming of Florence Nightingale so they post little bull**** quotes about the nurse's station to make themselves feel like Captain Saveaho so I like to post my own little quotes with theirs.
See if you can guess which 2 are mine.

Hahahaha too funny!

Maybe tired hands will come to you?

Either way, I do need to take a trip because I promised a certain member @remmy that I would come brew with him one day. I'd love to see that part of the country more. I've only been to Utica which took me to Buffalo and then to Canada for a night while in grad school.

Protein shake.

Full Throttle Blue Agave.

Looked at my carboy and there is a little fooking leaf floating in there... not sure how it would've made it through the autosiphon or fallen in the mouth of the carboy, but it's there.

Truly a backyard brew.

You should plan to come up when Dustin visits!

More coffee and declining new meeting invites right and left! :)

Maybe the leaf felt left out after seeing the spruce in there. :D

Qwaffi...feels like it should be Saturday morning. Kids out of school and SWMBO taking them to see older daughter and Grandbaby. SWMBO going to get drive-through breakfast first though. Mmmm...Breakfast Crunchwrap.

Coffee. It's my daughters 13th. birthday, and she wasted no time setting up a Facebook account. I had a friend request when I got to work. White girls, I swear...

Glad the birds didn't feel the same way.

It did feel weird tossing a big ol' bunch of spruce needles in there... all I could think was "Yep, you're about to ruin it... right about nao. Yeah, it's ruined."

I said "boom" though.

Should turn out fine.

bottled an ipa and got sick the day after. been three weeks and due to medication havent had a drop of beer since.

this is what hell tastes like.

Don't worry. You only "Spruced" it up a little.

Thank you, thank you, I am here all week. Remember to tip your waiters.

More coffee.

Finished the Berliner Weiss last night after sour mashing. The program said it would turn out at 1.039 but I ended up at 1.076 :drunk:. Now its is an Imperial Berliner Weiss lol

Earl Grey. Have to stay late tonight. Woohoo....:(

It was a 10gallon batch and I was short a few. I diluted one to 1.051 and kept the other the same. From what I tried. They are going to be good. Especially when I add fruit to a few portions of this. :rockin:

sound like it went great! I am still worried about trying a sour mash and ending up with a vomit weisse. Any idea when those will be ready to bottle?

I traded some Homebrews this last weekend and ended up drinking it last night. One of the guys made an IPA that was off the hook. He called it Hopy as hell.

Wow. Craziest lunch break ever.

TL;DR incoming.

There's an elderly lady that lives about 5 houses down that is fairly large, ~350 lbs (if I had to guess) and has a pretty hard time getting around. She lives alone and is always out front in a purple muumuu.

Well, I'm driving home and see her lying on her stomach on the garage floor. I pull over and start freaking out that I'm going to walk in there and she's going to be dead.

Luckily she was moving but told me she had fallen and was lying there for over an hour. She had managed to crawl from her driveway to the garage and yelled for help for the first 20 mins or so, but gave up.

I sat her up and told her I was going to get help. She said she didn't want any men to help, and I just looked at her and said, "Yeah, I'm going to get a couple of guys, there's no ladies on this street that could really help us out here." She knew what I meant but asked me to go get the neighbor lady next door to sit with her. I did that, then rounded up a couple guys that I knew would be home.

She had a gate belt so we got that on her and proceeded to lift her up into a chair that she had in the garage. She was able to stand up from there and walk around, but not before the neighbor guy told her to get a lifealert or something like that.

She didn't want to hear anything about it but was crying as soon as we got her in the chair.

Adrenaline overload. Had a beer and went back to work.
