Question for everyone. Now that I have a grain mill I'm going to buy some full bags of 2-row and MO to get my grain prices down. Anyone know how many 5 gallon buckets it takes to store a 55 pound sack of grain? I'm trying to decide if I get a big bin or stick with buckets. Thanks in advance.

50# = 2 homer buckets. I had the extra 5# left of MO, which I just left in the bag until the next day when I brewed with it. So just like @chefrex said.
Also, there's a great place to get vittles vault lids. Some guy posted here, <$40 for 6 or something. I'll dig around and see if I can't find the link.

For specialty grain, I'm not sure what I'll use yet. Probably just some airtight 1 gallon tupperware type deal I saw on amazon. The only discount I get on grain is with my AHA card, 5%. Otherwise, there's no discount unless I need an entire sack. I haven't pulled the trigger on that but I may do so with C40, something semi neutral.

Here's my local breweries' taproom selections from last night. Out of these, I usually go for Deliciouslus. Very good beer here at Barrier in Oceanside.

Tasting flights $10? How many tastes?
I'd do Evil Giant, Unimperial, Bulkhead, Copernicus then Mars Zen if it were a fairly standard flight. They go between 4 and 5 around here most often.

Already ordered a six-pack of gamma seal lids and have been accumulating the food safe buckets from Lowes so I'm set on that.

Welcome to NY! On Wednesday's they do $5 flights. And you're correct, 5 4oz samples per flight.
I've yet to buy a bottle of Axilla or Archibald. I have had Hot-Burning Love. Too much chili for my taste. Good for sharing, finishing a 22 bomber is near impossible.

Or you could try making your own crystal malts at home with your 2 row... I've read it isn't very hard, just takes some time. That's what I would do at least, but I'm a cheap ass and enjoy doing that kinda thing :rockin:

Dude you funny, but I couldn't possibly replicate the flavor.

Busch Light gets most of its flavor from can-conditioning at temps of around 38°. That way, you get that nice crisp aluminum taste that it's famous for.

More coffee. I have this odd moment nearly every morning where I think about having a beer. Then it passes. I never have the beer but it is weird. Not that I am opposed to drinking when I want, but I usually try to fly right on workdays.

Thinking of brewing tomorrow...outside for the first time in a year! hah. I need to run a test recipe. Hoping I don't need to exchange my propane tank. Trying to do this on a severe budget.

For cheaper specialty grains you may want to look into group buys in your area, especially ones that are friendly to splits. You can save quite a bit that way.

Nice tart,slight astringence feel,fruity,great dry finish,just a little boozy
