That is a great shot. Durn good beer too. You one of those foto-graphey people or something?

I have a nice warm bourbon belly going right now. Think I am going to call it an early night. The week is almost half over and I really want to try to sneak in a brew evening before I take a week off for the beach. I also have to stop by the bottle shop and see what I can find to take with me.

Grilling in the absurdly nice weather.

I've seen this around for a while, but have been hesitant to pay the nearly $30 I see it priced at. Is it worth it?

Still working on the last of the Stone RuinTen. The first half of the bottle was great. But like I figured, I'm over the hops already and having a hard time finishing the second half.

I hopped mine last friday. What hop did you use?

I dry hopped with simcoe and perle. Not sure about that combo but thats half the fun! The boil was a shot it in the dark as well; cluster, simcoe, caliente, millennium, nugget and willamette, but the conan half turned out great and was dry hopped with simcoe and cluster

I don't understand why someone would do this on purpose. I understand that when resources are scarce you use what's available, but why would you do this on purpose???

Meanwhile, this. When I first tried it, I wasn't impressed, but it was also a fairly old bottle. Since then I've had a few fresh bottles, and this is a damned good pint. Much more my style than that RuinTen.

I'd have a hard time saying any beer is worth that. I was lucky enough to find it discounted to $18 so I bought one and liked it enough to want more.

Went back the following week and it was $13 so I bought the remaining 8.

To me it's worth $18, and at $13 it's a steal

Having another Modus Hoperandi, still grilling.

Off topic, but just wondering:

I bought a 6 gallon Better Bottle today. I haven't opened the box and have no experience with them (I've only used glass). Do I need a different bung? I use the universal bungs in my glass carboys.
My LHBS was selling it for $24.99, so I figured I'd give it a go.

HAha no kidding. Check out this review of the beer.

"Golden color, small head. Aroma is smoke, country, horses, meat, animal manure. Dry with slight to medium bitterness. Fun brew, needs more hops though to balance out the smoke."

No schit it smells like animal manure! :smack:

Sours here routinely top $20. I learned after buying too many Bruery bottles that they're seldom worth the price tag. I'll shell big bucks for 3 Fonteinen (on the occasion it shows up) or Cantillon or the like, but I've never had a Goose Island beer worth that (with the exception of BCBS Rare, and I don't know what the price tag on that would have been, a friend from Chicago shared a bottle). Now, if I saw it for $13 I'd certainly jump on it. I don't recall the exact price, but last time I saw it I think it at $28 or so. Then again, beer's a little more here than many parts of the country, so I expect to pay a little more.

its not the regular drilled stopper. Looks like this:ImageUploadedByHome Brew1405475682.205407.jpg

Edit: you could probably use a drilled stopper, but larger size; maybe 9 1/2 or 10.

I am not native to the DC/MD/VA/DE area, and I do not understand the fascination with Old Bay. That's a beer I'm not even going to try. Hah.

I don't blame you. I picked it up for two trades on request.

Doubt I'd have tried it otherwise.

Although I do like Old Bay on crabs and shrimp!

I love motueka. Clint suggested i use it in the shipwrecked saison and i have twice, as well as dry hopping a mosaic pale ale and all of them have been really good. Sounds like we may need a hb swap here soon.

Thanks for the input! I finally dragged my lazy a$$ to the basement and checked it out. I will need a bigger bung than I am currently using. No big deal, the LHBS is not too far.
