Here’s another we don’t see much of in SoCal - Flensburger Dunkel. It’s great sitting around the hotel room drinking!

Flensburg is up North near the Denmark border, a town on the water. This might explain their caption “brewed with coastal barley” right on the label. Hey, is that a good thing? Me dunno!

I do like the Bierflaschen though! Maybe I’ll keep this and put it with the other 100 or so old-school vintage brown Grolsch bottles I rarely use anymore! Yes, they once used brown!

BTW, all the Grolsch beer I’m seeing now comes in standard green glass bottles. They’ve gone from wonderful brown flips with ceramic stoppers to the green flips with plastic stoppers, now regular green glass with metal bottle caps. What’s next, plastic with screw lids? Not much reason to buy it these days.

Anyway, this is a decent Dunkel, lesser residual sweetness than many, and a slight touch of spice. Amazing this flip-top holds only 11.2 ounces!

Augustiner is ANOTHER that we rarely see on the Left Coast, Augustiner Helles!

Actually let’s change that statement. Substitute the word “rarely” with “NEVER” !!!

Augustiner is another one of the ancient and famous Munich breweries, in fact many strains including WLP 860 are said to have lineage traceable to those old vats!

This is a great 5.2% ABV Bavarian Helles. Make sure to buy some when in Munich or the East Coast. California? FERGITIT!
