Is that still a thing? I missed the last few rounds because of health reasons and unavailable HB. Might be interested in another go soon.
Running dangerously low on HB again. For cutting back on my drinking, it sure seems like my kegs don’t last very long.😎
I’ve been wanting to brew, but it’s kinda hard with forecasts like this. Supposed to be warmer this weekend.

Yeah, feels like ancient history when I had 8 kegs of HB and 100 bottles of retail (and 1,000,000 extra calories) laying around. Cheers to good memories we managed to live through... safely! 🍻

I know, I know. That beer is brewed by Lagunitas in Petaluma, California! OK, since 1927 this beer WAS brewed in England and through several sales of the company it now is brewed all over the place. Still a nifty beer, I’d call it an English brew.

Newcastle was originally a workingman’s beer, initially brewed in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Newcastle has fallen prey to the same type of marketing geniuses that helped nail the coffin for Anchor Steam in San Francisco – namely changing out a 100 year old, classic, iconic, loved and recognizable beer label for something that looks like it was generated by a 19-year old using clip art and Photoshop.

Companies, near and far – quit doing this! It’s not gaining you any market share, in fact, you lose market share when you do this. Stay with the classic labels, for crying out loud!

Newcastle is brewed at a thirst-quenching 4.7% ABV, has a slight roastiness to the flavor profile. I heard folks say it tasted different that the original English production. I can’t vouch for that, but the current brew is flavorful and tasty – I’d probably buy more of it - if it had the classic labels. I'm embarrased to take these ones through the checkout line. What's next, the left end of the cold case? Enjoy your beer.

At Whole Foods in Addison Texas drinking a Peticolas English Barley Wine. 12% but it drinks much lighter.
Jelly! My local WF shut down their craft beer bar during covid. I've asked when they're going to open it back up. Their response? "Yeah, a lot of people ask that" 😔

Ours shut down during Covid but reopened due to popular demand. They did think about not reopening.

Time for a supplemental report amongst the British/Irish/Scottish beers….

Boozing it in the hotel. Well, “beering” it anyway. These are the beers they had in the hotel market. You’d think I’d learned by now to avoid green glass, and yes, it’s a skunker. I drank it anyway! The Lone Star is exceptionally average. I blended it back with the Ballast Point Sculpin IPA with good results!

At least the Newcastle you posted upthread didn't come in a clear bottle.

Photographing these beers can be a challenge unto itself – I swear, I poured this beer as hard as I could to raise some kind of a head for the camera – and darned near nothing! Drinking this, carbonation level is fine. It just won’t raise much of a head, that wort must undergo must be one heck of a protein rest, huh? Sorry folks!

Fuller’s London Pride is an old-school favorite with a few surprising side notes - Looks like Fuller’s is now a product of Asahi UK and is brewed by Griffin Brewery located in Chiswick, London, England. Nothing stays the same does it? Asahi? And imported into the US by Paulaner USA. Wow.

Fuller’s London Pride is a tasty amber ale brewed at 4.7% ABV. Not watery, but this beer seems to lack the body of some of the other English and Irish brews I’m comparing them to, and of course the lack of head and zero lacing. All things that I love, but are a bit minimized here. Clarity would look great in a big 1L paneled stein! Cheers!

Cancer won today so **** cancer - Dad kicked the bucket early this a.m. after fighting stomach cancer for a couple of years!

We hadn't talked in a long time, but he did contribute DNA so I'll have a beer in his behalf.

Cheers!!
