Bit of a let down from the high octane before... Stone Stout

Full House was my favorite album for a long time. I tried hard to wear a groove through the vinyl from both sides. I have a digital version on my mp3 and whenever a track comes up in the shuffle it brings me back to the days way back in the rear view mirror.
Saw them at Candlestick Park in San Fransisco, they opened for the Rolling Stones. Had to be 1981 or possibly early 1982. I was stationed in Vallejo for school. Their lead guy was doing a thing dancing with a long ribbon on a stick and twirling it all around at the time. They were good, but yeah, I was there to see the Stones.

SN/Gutmann collab festbier. Tasty, good mouth feel, 6%.
As much as I’m digging this 9.5% ABV delicious Fruit Force IPA by New Belgium Brewing, I can’t always commit to a couple of them.
Don’t get me wrong, I like high ABV beers at times, but I can’t always deal with the wooden 2”x4” smack into the forehead that pounding two of these bad boys can deliver. Time and a place for everything, and everything in moderation. Dad’s voice of solid advice echoes in my head.
So what the heck, another beer blending episode. Great thing about Coors light (and Bud Zero for no booze at all) is they are perfect flavor-neutral “blenders”. They’re the “tonic water” of the beer industry!
This is still a great beer, even blended down. Still plenty of the Fruit Force fruity IPA thing going on, but in a more drinkable, gluggable format. Great beer either way! CHUG!

Putting together a pick 6 at Piggly Wiggly in Foley, AL, a while back and saw this so decided to try it. Mango ale from Pipeworks Brewing, Chicago. Pretty tasty. Mango aroma and taste are there but subtle. Medium body, not sweet, 6.0%.
And an 8.5 ... this one is better.
I saw the same tour when they opened for the Rolling Stones at the old Kingdome in Seattle. Mick Jagger was in a high reach bucket they swirled around above the crowd!
Built with maybe $100 - $200 in materials, selling for $1800 if they find 60 morons with to much money to buy the 60 they made, it'll be a miracle, but one hell of a profit margin.

You’d think on Halloween I’d be sipping on something like pumpkin ale, huh? Not a chance! Rather, I thought I’d take a walk on the dark side – dark IPA’s that is…. And Stone with its’ black can and Gargoyle has to be the spookiest!
Stone Brewing brought back their 2007 version black IPA by drinker’s request. I know that the idea of a “Black” “Pale Ale” goes against all grammatical conventions, but whoever claimed we half-inebriated beer drinkers were English majors, eh?
Add me to the camp who insist this style category someday be changed to the “other name” – Cascadian Dark Ales or CDA. Black IPA really is a misnomer in my book. Of course Dad mentioned something about us chewing the pages off our books, so maybe that book gets tossed out when it comes to fine ales!
I really need to brew this. I’ve been working on a recipe for some time, but you know, 5 gallons of 8.7% ABV dark IPA is a commitment for sure. I guess I need a few more buds to help me polish it off, any volunteers? Enjoy!
