Irish nightcap after a day spent cooking, eating, and drinking HB with my wife’s brother and her sister and BIL. Smoked a brisket and made several sides and desserts. And it rained, a little, for the first time in about a month. It was nice to get some feedback on my beers from someone who can actually taste them. My BIL, a retired commercial banker, said that if some of the brewpubs that he financed in WA made beer as good as mine they might still be in business.

This while I clean the tap lines with some BLC. I always run hot PBW through them but I think I need to use BLC instead. It’s incredible what BLC has flushed out in 10 minutes on the first line even though I cleaned it with PBW about a week ago. I think that’s where the off flavor came from with my Kolsch Thursday night at home brew club night. Plus I’ll give my growlers a good soak with PBW too for good measure later today or tomorrow.

Moved house to live by the sea side and have yet to set-up my brewing kit. Today broke-out one of my aged beers that went with the move. 8.6% Baltic Porter bottled 25 November 2021. It's aged well and the taste has mellowed a bit since first bottled. Not sharp at all for the ABV.

Sports weekend. HS football game last night to watch my son in the band. Softball double header today for my daughter. First volleyball practice and another softball double header tomorrow. My daughter just asked me to practice sliding and play catch a little more this afternoon.

Settling in to watch some college football this evening. Go Buckeyes!

I decided to give another one of these ago. The first one I had seemed oxidized. This one has much better hop character even though the color is dark. I think my palate was just off the first time. This is quite good. I would only recommend to brighten the color or try to get it clear because this dark hazy business isn’t appealing.
