Tryin to kick this hb nitro stout ... need to get a different keg in there, it's getting close I can tell.. it's only 4.2% so I should be able to polish it off and still have the balance to bring a keg up from the basement... the struggle is real... as for the other struggle (clutch replacement) the hot wrench got the studs out of the trans for the slave cylinder, that was the last bit to remove so now reassemble begins.

Bottling leftover of Chinese rice wine. A little sweet and tart, tasty with some kick!

Are you serving these warmed up, or are these more akin to a Chinese version of Sake?

As always, I'm constantly learning new stuff from you. You've gotta have the most interesting and far-reaching brewery on this site. It really blows me away.

Tonight I’m kicking off a fun review of some of the domestic “Faux” German brews available in California! Actually, maybe Faux is the wrong term – a lot of these are brewed with Continental malt and hops, so what’s the difference where the brew kettle is located, right? HA!

First up is a delicious and true-to-form Oktoberfest Lager. I really appreciate well-crafted brews like this. Crystal clarity, nice head, great lacing, delicious flavor, brewed by Toppling Goliath Brewing out of Decorah, IA. Iowa is full of Germans, so maybe some of that skill is clustered up at Toppling Goliath. This is really a great Märzen beer, 5.2% ABV.

Now I have to add, this one is advertised as unfiltered, but poured crystal clear as I like it. Märzens are SUPPOSED to be crystal clear in my book, I’m not a fan of unfiltered Märzens. Maybe those months lagering in the expansive Beermeister32 Bierhoard let the murk sink to the bottom of the can - where it belongs as far as I’m concerned! Great beer, otherwise don’t change a thing! Prost!

What'd you think of the Bru-1?
This beer turned out quite good despite my freaking out. 😀. The only thing I'd change is to add a bit of Magnum at 60 mins. Lots of pineapple juiciness, just needs a bit more bitterness to balance it out. That said, I'll have no trouble killing this keg. 😉

Ballantine’s is one of those beers I’ve always wished I got to try.
Back in the mid 70's I was a 17 year old, drinking whatever beer I could get my hands on, usually Schlitz, Genesee, Miller type beers. I remember once somehow getting a hold of a Ballantine XXX Ale which, compared to the others mentioned, tasted like a mouthful of pine needles. Not sure I even finished it. When I think back to that beer I wonder how I would feel about it now. My taste and appreciation of different beer styles has changed dramatically since my late teens.

After my lawnmower beer a brother in law came by with wine-2000 personal stash red, and a bottle of Port from around 1980-90. Then others showed up with more wine . Had a great evening with family, once again drank and ate too much. Here's the port, my wife and sister in law drank all but the one glass I got.View attachment 872797
I got one glass of this, my wife and here sister in law drank the rest. My brother in law says he has a couple more he'll donate because he doesn't drink the fortified wines.

I agree with this entire statement… except for the mid 70s part. I was just a babe then. :mug:
