Molasses vs. sugar primed gingerbread brown ale test. Definitely get a faint molasses aroma. No molasses taste but an unusual aftertaste that's hard to describe but not pleasant. Sugar it is.

I find molassas leaves a licorice flavor when used in the kettle. Maybe you are getting a hint of this from the priming?

Give it some time to age, maybe it will mellow out. I've heard some say that molasses can add a metallic or mineral taste. Time will tell--don't give up on it.

HB Munich Dunkel
I haven’t had any beer for a while because of the stupid prescription pain medication they prescribed me for my shoulder. Met with orthopedic doctor last week and he’s recommending surgery for a torn rotator cuff as well as my collarbone being separated from my shoulder blade. Now I have to wait to schedule surgery until work comp approves it.

It's much paler than I normally make, and intended. This was due to swapping out 2/3 of my Golden Naked Oats with malted due to lack of supply.

I think there's a happy medium and throwing in a bit of Munich wouldn't have gone amiss mostly for colour. But oh boy, is it delicious. Pineapple and candied lime for days.

Woke up to this sight today. First snowfall of the season--about 3" here. Too damned early for winter to start, but the sun's out now and it's starting to melt off. Windy af, but at least the streets and sidewalks are clear. Trick or treaters will brave the cold, anyway.
