I kind of hope Westbrook drops the bottles in the tasting room tomorrow afternoon and then is all "we changed our minds about the release, deal with it!" The disappointment I'd get from missing the beer would be offset by the entertainment on BA and Facebook.

What on earth are they thinking?! I can't even tell what is allowed and what's not anymore. So the cops will kick people off the property, but parking on the side of the road and hanging out in the woods is okay?

Westbrook clarified what they meant, they were talking about for hanging out during the day apparently:

Westbrook Brewing Company Sorry about the confusing answer! Please don't camp out, but on Saturday if you wanted to bring your own folding chairs or tent (like if you were going to the beach), that would be cool.

Didn't people get shut out last year? Why are they making it just 400 people? I assume that not everyone will get their full allotment, but still...

That's definitely a possibility, do they really want to run 800 customers through the place at unofficial hours, which would take twice as long?

On the other hand, the day they released regular Mexican Cake they cut the limits in half, if I recall correctly, due to the number of people waiting.

They won't be tapping the variants they bottled (at least they didnt last year). They will have two Mexican cake variants on. Like last year, coffee will be one of them. The other one I hear will be pretty good as well
I'm not sure if they want to keep it small or not, but there are definitely more overall bottles of each variant this year.

Heh, people on BA are already using terms like "secured a set" or "acquired a set" - past tense - while referring to pre-trades. The forums and Facebook groups are going to be pretty interesting on Saturday afternoon.

Wish I had one.

In all seriousness, I hope this goes off smoothly and without incident. The people who work at Westbrook (and especially the non-employees who volunteer their time to help out with events like this) are all good people and don't deserve to get treated like crap by a bunch of beer geeks who are sore they didn't score the trade bait needed to complete their pre-trade for BVDL or whatever.

I know there's no way to make everyone happy, BUT it seems like BPT works decently enough. They could even do a silent release for the locals say with 25% of what they have and put the rest on BPT the next day or something. These releases just get more and more out of control

I think many at Westbrook would agree with this. However, I believe ultimately Morgan was pushing for a release, but don't quote me on that. I'll be interested to see how things go, but hopefully people are civil, because as stated above, the people at Westbrook are awesome and so are the ones who volunteer their time for this release. One of my buddy's will be handing out bottles so hopefully for his sake it's not too much of a cluster.
