Yeah, just go to twitter and search Mexican Cake. The other site tipped people off. Hop City Birmingham, Country Grocery in Pelham, Spirits Wine Cellar in Tuscaloosa, Hops and Vine in Birmingham, etc. My guess is that they were shipped to the distributor with instructions not to sell before a certain date and the distributor ignored them. That's what happened with some of the Terrapin waxed stuff--Florida got it before anyone in Georgia did.

Is this confirmed, or did I somehow miss the news that it's actually being distributed this year? I don't think I could have possibly missed that, but you know as well as anyone else that I can't read directions to save my life.

The base beer always gets distro. It's on their release calendar for May. I just messaged My Friend's Growler Shop and they heard from the rep at the distributor that it should be here next week. I will be out of town next week until Thursday so I hope it doesn't hit stores until then.

Same thing happened locally for me with BCBS. Got it a week before Black Friday.

Lol bitching online already over no social media announcement. That was the whole point morons!

The histrionics over this release on BA and Facebook have been spectacular. Westbrook just posted on Facebook that they are sold out at the brewery - you can imagine how that's going over...

Per the other site it was a silent release at the brewery today. Supposedly fewer than 100 cases, distro not likely.

Hearing from a few sources that this sold out already. Which if true doesn't really bother me, saves me 4 hours of driving and a bunch of cash.

EDIT: well, apparently maybe not. Tons of conflicting info. Hah, I love beer releases...

Anything else interesting in bottles there lately? Need to make a trip up there for something I have to do in person in the Charleston area.

And I hope they keep doing the silent releases, even if it means I'll never be able to use a release as an excuse to go up there.

JulianB correct me if i'm wrong but I believe the labels are exactly the same; the only difference between regular and coffee is the wax and the bottle date. If this is true, I have no doubt people will start waxing their regular cakes and putting them up for trade.

That's correct. Just snapped these photos:

EDIT: 6/2/15 is the Coffee Cake.
