Cerevisiae is ale yeast. Lagers (typically) use S. Pastorianus, and Bayanus is the typical species for wine and cider.

well, i hope it doesn't mind living in beer! because it's A HELL of A LOT cheaper....got my 500g brick for $30.....works out to a little over 60 cents for a 11g packet.....

edit: lol, that's going to save me like $20 a year!
