A friend and I are planning a Weizenbock in a couple of weeks and I have a few questions.
With 7.5kg of grain, brewsmith is telling me to mash in with 19.5L of water, mash-out with 11L and sparge with 3L... It it really worth it to sparge with only 3L of water? Is it going to do anything?
As this beer is pretty much the first runnings of the mash, could I add another 25-30L of water (maybe throw in some more grain) and make a second smaller beer off the second runnings (kind of a parti-gyle). Maybe add some DME or Wheat LME to the boil if the pre-boil OG is too low?
Any one have a suggestion?
Thanks,
