Timing at the weekend was fantastic. Managed to whip up a batch of IPA on Saturday whilst looking after my two kids (3years and 7 weeks). Wife fed baby and left to go play netball. Baby went to sleep. Straight away I ran outside and filled a barrel with sterile solution and put the pot on the stove to boil.
Managed to keep 3 year old entertained whilst getting all the gear together.
Starter made in a pint glass.
During the boil (I used 2 cans of James Squire IPA, 1 Kilo of light DME and some Saaz hops at flame out to perk it up a little - nice and simple) I placed her in front of the TV and put Bambi on (she loves it!)

30min after I switch the boil off I had it in the barrel with the yeast pitched in my cellar. Cleaned up the kitchen and put everything away.

OG reading of 1.64 so heading for about 6%, nice and light.

3hrs later I checked it and the airlock was moving!

Stunning timing brought it all together, plus a lot of running!
Wife came home and I am sitting holding the baby with my feet up in a tidy house. Brownie points all round. She did look a little quizzed how I had time to do everything!

Sunday night it is going full speed, 2/3 per second.

Now for those other barrels... Walkers IPA up next - will need more time for that though

Yeup, I need the brownie points like you would not belive!
Got some more points on Sunday when I put up some handrails on the deck at the back of the house. Something to do with safety and small children!

I am on-call all this week so no beery nights for me. This will give me time to sort out my bottle collection. Going to clean / sanatise them all and cap them off so I can bottle quickly. I only have about 12 cases to do!
Time is of the essence when there is a wife and two children in the equation.
I have just scored a free fridge off of freecycle as well. Kegging is starting to get closer!
