Looks pretty good! I haven't tried my hand at a NEIPA since brewing one for my wedding and it was dismal at best. That was before I got into water chemistry as well so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Genuine, what went wrong for you in that batch?

I think it was a combination of things. The aroma was great, smelled amazing however the flavor was just a quick bitterness and then it was over. No other flavors.

.5oz of Columbus at 60
.5oz Columbus Flame out
2oz of each whirlpool at 180 for 10 minutes (I think This had a lot to do with not creating much flavor) Citra, Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin.

I missed the bio transformation window. I fermented with Imperial’s Dry Hop and it ripped through the batch in 2 days. On the 3rd day I opened the bucket to dry hop with 1oz each of Simcoe, Citra and Nelson to find fermentation done with, Krausen had fallen and terminal gravity met.

I used a buddy’s well water to brew it at the time and I don’t know the stats on it.

No hop flavor, just a sharp bitterness . Amazing aroma but nothing else to speak of.

Great info, thank you. I’m super skeptical of the recipes that I see with only whirlpool and late hops. Perhaps I’m just still too old school but I think there has to be some contribution of sub 20 minute additions to get hop flavors in there. I was afraid I might have gone too far on this one but based on what you think went wrong, I’m feeling pretty good about this one.

I’m using WLP095 and I’ll tell you what, I pitched around 10:00 pm Saturday night, it was roaring in the am, and it looks like things are winding down at the 3 day mark. I’m a bit shocked at how quickly these English strains are tearing up wort!
