Water question: "magnesium chloride" vs "magnesium chloride hexahydrate"

Hey all!
Playing with water chem and while Bru'N has a line for magnesium chloride hexahydrate, and want to give using it a try. The dietary supplement I ordered, however, says nothing about the hexahydrate component. Will this still work? Is plain ol' magnesium chloride okay for my brewing purposes?

Don't know,I use MgSO4 because I also use NaCl and that combo keeps my seasoning salts balanced.

It’s most likely to be the hexahydrate version since it’s more stable than the anhydrous version. In either case, be aware that this salt absorbs moisture from the air and precise dosing is difficult for that reason. You can’t know the precise hydration state.
