I use a pentek10" with a carbon filter..I have a buddy who's in the water purification business so mine was free...figure about 40 bucks for a decent setup with fittings..

Hey man, go to Lowe's and get you one of these

This is what I've been using for a while now with great results.
Just fill your HLT, or whatever your collecting your brewing water in slowly through the filter. I replace the filter about every three months, sometimes even sooner. I noticed a HUGE improvement in my beers once I started filtering my water and adjusting salts, especially my IPAs. Chlorine will ruin a batch of beer

If the link don't work here's a pic.

Link worked great, I have talked water with a local brewery and they said our water is perfect for beer, just need to filter the chlorine, so this looks good, thanks

I will tell you I live in Henry Co and I sent a sample of water off to ward labs for analysis and it is low on all minerals and requires gypsum and calcium chloride to achieve a good profile for a hoppy beer. Our water is very soft.

I'm in Hampton and the guys at jailhouse says hamptons water is excellent, and all they do is filter the chlorine. But I guess I'll need to send a sample too

I just use an activated carbon filter for the water and have noticed a night and day difference since. Ran me $50 but small price to pay to vastly improve your brew

Hey, those of you that want to go to Jailhouse, this Thursday night, May 01 @6pm, Barley and Vine is having our monthly Brewer's Guild meeting. All of our customers can get in on a $3 discount. Use the secret code "Brew cat". Should be lots of fun.

It was my understanding that if you use a charcoal filtered to remove chlorine you're also removing important minerals does anyone know if that's true?

No that's not true charcoal filter removes only chlorine and does not alter the mineral content. Reverse Osmosis on the other hand removes both minerals and chlorine kind of giving you a zero ppm starting point.

Now i just need a way to remove the insane amount of sodium in are water and i could actually use it instead of RO water :)

Use half RO water and adjust the other minerals accordingly. That'll cut your sodium in half, or use more or less RO water depending on how much sodium you want out
