I have a hole house filtration setup for my allgrain brews. I've been brewing about once every two months. I used the filter for the first time today. I'm using the garden house to fill my pot. That's why I'm using the filter. I don't want the hose taste on my wort. How do I store the filter cartridge when I'm not using it? 11 bucks for two filters can get expensive.

You can buy cases of 50 filters on eBay that allow you to mix and match micron sizes for about $1.50 per filter.

As for storage, You might fill it with UV sterilized water and keep it full....I think if you expose it to air it might start growing baddies if you don't use it often. It might be cheaper to just buy RO water by the gallon (about .40/gal). With RO you know you are starting with a clean slate and can add salts to achieve the water you are after.

...or you could let it dry and leave it in pieces until the next time you need it.

This is what I do with my hand-pump water filter that I use for backpacking.. No baddies in it yet and it's seen quite a few trips with water much nastier than tap.
