I'm trying to figure out just which volume of water I should be using for the water chemistry calculators for a partial mash brew (with batch sparge) where I'll be topping up at the end. The way I see it, there's several different volumes along the way.
Do you use:

Just the mash vol?
The mash + sparge?
boil volume? (i.e. mash + sparge - evaporation)
post-boil volume?
batch?
or is it mash + sparge + topup?

The main purpose to care about water chem is the mash. So make it easy and just use mash and include sparge if you wants to. however sparge is just a rinse.

my 2 cents

Gracias. Keeping it simple sounds good. I'm not trying to do too too much my first time out messing with additions anyway, so even if I undersalt, it seems like I can't screw it up.
