In the seven months I have been brewing, I have come to realize that Homebrew Hefe's are one of my most favorite! I have also started using Liquid Yeasts and starters with a stirplate.

I read some of the washing yeast thread, but not the entire thing. I think I read somewhere that Hefe yeast is not great for washing.
Is that so? I have White Labs WLP300.
Can I wash it?

Thanks

Yes u can wash it. I have before. It's suggested to not wash b/c it loses it's viability quickly and can lose some of the flavor profile. That being said I've had no issues with washing

I just brewed a Dunkel on Monday and pitched washed wlp300 yeast on it. It's going to town right now and smells awesome. Note that I used the yeast about 3 days after washing it. I have some washed wlp028 in the fridge that has been sitting there for about 5-6 weeks. Might use it next week in a brown ale. As long as you do a starter 1-2 days in advance it should be alright.

I've read that you shouldn't use past the 6th generation. That's my plan.
