I wash my yeast a la the sticky here. I use a quart mason for the larger container, and then pour it into 4 half pint containers. I want to wash a cake I have now, but also want to pitch some into a cider immediately after I wash it. Can I do that/will there be enough viable yeast without making a starter? Should I just pitch two jars and call it good?

I would do two jars. The little bit of slurry you get on the bottom of an 8 oz jar isn't enough I don't think.

You could also use a bigger larger jar, and after you pour off into the smaller ones, you'll have quite a bit left in there if you just want to immediately pitch. I'd make sure you pull them all out of the fridge well ahead of time to make sure the water is at room temp also.
