I got a kegerator about 8 months ago, and I stopped using it about 4 months ago because it didn't get very cold. I also found that the outlet it was plugged into had a short. I recently plugged it into another outlet and after a day the temp., at it's lowest, isvabout 40 degrees, which is still a little warmer than I'd want it. The funny part is that the freezer is still working fine. Should I get the freon tested and/or I have heard of people drilling holes into the freezer to get the fridge a little colder. What should I or can I do? Any help would be useful.....Thanks!!!

the fan on the evaparator could be bad.
you have a standerd unit right, frezzer on top fregerator on bottom.

on thoes units, the fregerator temp control knob does not control the thermistat,
it controls the flap in the frezzer, that directs some of the cold air in the frezer to the freg chamber. i would check that too.

you can take off the back panle in teh frezzer and see the fan and the baffle the directs the cold air to the bottom

If it's a standup fridge then then the innards are good. Standup fridges pull the cold air down out of the freezer.

Since the freezer is fine, your hardware is good (compression system) just need to address the airflow from the freezer to the fridge (usually a vent w/ a flap, as said above) and also the insulation on the fridge portion.

If it's got terrible door seals or no airflow, that's your problem.

Sounds like the fan that pulls the cold air down to the fridge section is bad.

My current kegerator fridge has that issue. The former owner cut the bottom of the freezer/top of the fridge out so the cold air from the freezer just falls into the fridge. My issue is keeping the fridge from getting TOO cold.
