Hi, We've got those kits available in NZ, apparently they do an alright brew, but not a great yeild. I've got a 25l Turbo reflux still, which gives me about 4-5 litres @ about 86%. Once thats watered down and filtered, I get about 9-10 litres at 40%., Which is 9 or 10 bottles depending on what you are making. The still itself, brand spankin new costs approx $600-$700 NZD. But I got mine off an online auction site (NZ version of -bay) for $200, and that included 2 x filtering buckets and 2 x fermentation barrels and the filter itself. I recommend this sort of set-up (if available) as the vodka kits only give a small yeild (apparently only 1 or 2 litres?). If I make 10 bottles of whiskey and as I do,start drinking on the same day, the rest has time to age before I get to it.
Those non-distilled vodka kits aren't something I"ve seen but I have seen the "liquor" kits. They of course don't make actual liquor, but instead a high alcohol wine type of beverage that is supposed to simulate the liquor. I have no idea as to the quality.
Since talk of distillation is against our forum rules, though, and we've already gone there, this thread will be closed.
