If you want a upscale bar/ restaurant go to Esoteric . On the other end is Lynnhaven Pub , a fun dive bar in my neighborhood . Great beer selection at both places but the pub is my favorite place . Some others in Va. Beach - Bottlecraft , Tapped , Whole Foods , Reaver Beach brewing , Commonwealth Brewing and Mix it up .

HELP: RICHMOND TBers!

Two of my best friends are celebrating their first anniversary this weekend in Richmond. They are having dinner at the Heritage on Saturday night and if someone could deliver to them a nice BA stout, they would be compensated for cost, expense, and time, Paypal or Venmo. I don't have anything to trade with right now (literally two Aslin IPA's, but I was going to drink those), but I would be happy to follow up with a nice thank you of a request available in the DC area.

Anyone here from Alexandria? Will be visiting for a wedding over the July 4 long weekend, and would love to try the Veil, but won't have the time or means to drive down to Richmond. Anyone in Alexandria have some Veil to trade? Can offer some local Toronto hoppy/sour/BA stuff in exchange... Cheers!

Anyone doing Veil or Mekong/Answer today? Let's bang if so. mcaulifww

RVA peeps... what is the one stop must see joint in your neck of the woods?

I'll be coming in hot friday evening with the wife and kids and only have time to make 1 stop for food and a beer before getting back on the road and continuing to truck on down to florida.

Bonus points if said establishment has beers for take away.
Super double bonus boner if berliners are an option.

Bro come hang with me! Let's get dinner at mekong or the answer and drink berliners. I live a mile from there.

Edit: Or we can just go to the gym

Also speaking of the Mekong/The Answer my beer group is having our 5th anniversary party there July 22nd. Meeting at Mekong at 7pm for dinner, then some drinks at The Answer then back to Mekong for a bottle share after.

As mentioned, Answer is the answer. Let me know when you're swinging through, I'll come touch tips with you real quick. Been too long, man!

Didn't see an Aslin thread so thought I'd post in here...

Going to be up at the Aslin 2nd Anniversary if anyone else is as well.

Anyone have anything from Commonwealth brewing? Everything i've had from them has been an oxidized disaster.

Me and my girlfriend just moved to Richmond about 3 weeks ago. Anyone going to the Answer's anniversary tomorrow? Between that and Final Gravity, and even the Oktoberfest there's a lot going on. Would love to meet some TB'ers.

Commonwealth has been putting out some good beers lately . Big Papi is a tasty DIPA along with the jucier Rainbowe . I also enjoyed the recent sours Tapestry and Halcyon . Haven't tried most of the Belgiums but not my thing . Most of what I have had from them was fresh on tap from the brewery . Marvolo Stout was good in cans .

I’ll be in Richmond for one night next week. It’s my birthday, and I’ll be driving down from DC after work (hoping to screw out a little early).

Fiancé and I have plans to hit L’Opossom and the veil after. Any other suggestions? We won’t be in until the later side, so I fear we may miss the Veil. Anywhere else open late that is a must go instead?

Thanks d00ds.

The answer or Mekong. Same owner and next door, Mekong is a pho restaurant with a really solid beer list. The answer is the brewpub. Really good sours Berliners and stouts.

Other cool joints is the new barcade in town. Beer isn't the best, but still good options, arcade games are great, but there will prolly be a line out the door.

Ardent and final gravity are good, but probably close a lil early

It's pretty damn hard to argue with Mekong/Answer, but you could also hit Triple Crossing(downtown location) since its close to L’Opossom and their hoppy beer is better than Veil. Another downtown option would be to hit Saison...they always have a solid draft list and the cocktails are on point.

Richmond peeps, does L’Opossum have bar area seating where walkins are acceptable? Earliest reservations for this place is mid-August.

Hey VA peeps. Work is sending me to the bustling metropolis of Farmville, VA for a spell in July. A quick Google search turns up Third Street Brewing and James River Brewery in the area. Am I in wasteland country out there? Will I rue the fact that I'm barely in Richmond except for flying in/out?

Have never had anything from Third Street, but can safely say to stay away from James River Brewing. They make some really terrible beers, and it will probably be even worse for you, since you're more than likely used to great beer in Portland and surrounding areas. Went to school for two years at Longwood in Farmville, and other than that there's a furniture store haha. Haven't been back in years though. And yeah, Richmond has a pretty booming beer scene at the moment, so if you're able to come back even for the evening one day while you're in Farmville it's worth the trip. Farmville is only a little over an hour from RVA anyway.

Haha thanks for the heads up on James River. And that's what I figured... I'll see about getting up to RVA if possible.

If it doesn't work out and you need some cans/crowlers to bring back with you just hit me up. I live right off the highway on the way to the airport (about 15 minutes away) and can likely snag some stuff during the week for you. Just shoot me a message. Cheers!
