About to start barrel aging and plan to use a Vinnie Nail for sampling. Has anyone noticed any difference between samples taken from the nail hole vs. through the bung? It seems like samples from the nail hole might be more oaked than those taken more centrally. Or are there enough currents in the barrel that it won't be an issue? Note, I'll be using 8 gallon barrels, so expecting the oaking to happen relatively quickly.
