Ive been having a lot of trouble with my efficency, last time I brewed it came like 67%. here is my equipment and process:

Cereal killer Mill
Igloo cooler with braided hose.

I crush the grain, with a dril, doing it very slowly, so all grains are crushed. i think I do a good job, the grains are cracked, no whole grains left.
I use beersmith, and I mash acording to beersmith.
After mashing I recirculate about 3 qts, and I drain slowly, once it is drained, I Batch sparge with water at 170°f, I stir, reciculate and drain slowly.

What Im I doing wrong? is it my mash tun? I was thinking of buying a false bottom, but read that the braided hose, should do a good job!!!!!

please help

Recipe? How much water did you use and what was your mash temp? Could your thermometer be off? Need a bit more info in order to be able to help.

67% is not horrible, especially if it's a big beer or you under-sparge.

Without knowing any of the necessary specifics, I'd hazard a guess that your mash ph may be wonky.

I was afraid of clogging the braided hose at first, but you can crush more finely to get a higher efficiency. One of the advantages if this system is the ability to push your crush more without a stuck sparge.

Your PH, crush, and grain bill size play a big role. Do you happen to have a photo of your crush? Please post your recipe with mash steps included. Also do you stir vigorously in mash in?
