Vanilla storage?

My future FIL works for a food import company and I got my hands on some good vanilla beans, which I plan to use for a CVCA.

He freezes them for storage, tho it clearly says on the package to store them in a sealed container/bag in a cool, dark place.

How do you guys/gals store them?

I always just store mine in the fridge. But we use them pretty quickly after we have them.
