As many people are aware, blue moon is an unfiltered wheat beer. That being said, occasionally is floculates and leaves sediment on the bottom of the bottle. What I am wondering is has anyone tried using that sediment to make beer with? Is it possible?

With so many far superior wits on the market, I wouldnt recomend it; however, you can probably do it without problems.

I doubt it is a yeast of any extraordinary qualities.

Don't bother. Blue Moon uses a clean fermenting ale yeast. You are just as good using wlp001, wyeast1056, or US-05.

I know it´s been a while since you asked... but I did a couple of litters with Blue Moon sediment (after repruducint it) and it turned out very nice, fresh, fruity, light.. very similar to the real stuff.
