Using Pump to Fill Kegs

I was wondering if it is OK to use my March pump to transfer beer from the fermentation tank into the kegs when it is time to fill them? (The same pump I used to transfer wort from my boil kettle to the fermenter. Obviously it has been properly cleaned and sanitized.) Do I risk any problems with oxidyzation with this method? Just curious.

You can do it, but I think it would probably be stressful on the beer. I would recommend trying to figure out a way to use gravity or CO2.

I'd think there would be some oxygen introduced with the pump. They're ok pre-fermentation because you need some oxygen anyway but post fermentation I wouldn't do it.

Most breweries use pumps to transfer from fermentation vessel to brite tank...

..that being said, I'd use Co2 or gravity if there was a way, gentler on the beer for sure.

Unfortunately Co2 and gravity are not options for me at this point. Anyone else have some input for me?

Could you purge the system with CO2 before running the beer through it? Not sure how reliable it would be but I guess its better than nothing.

..that being said, I'd use Co2 or gravity if there was a way, gentler on the beer for sure.

They also use large, true sanitary, low shear, and VFD controlled pumps.
