Beginner here. Just brewed my first beer which isn't even done yet, but I'm so excited about this potential hobby that I'm thinking of a bunch of ideas that may or may not work. Pictures below, I have a glass jar I would like to use for fermenting, and would like opinions on this being a good or bad idea. This is a weigh jar out of our milking parlor. Each cows milk goes into this before going to the big storage tank. I have six of these just laying around, because we replaced them with 12 different ones about 5 years ago. Basically the way it works, milk goes in the nipple that sticks sort of out the side, which is on the top side. The nipple next to that (with the metal bracket) points straight at the ceiling, and is just an overflow. Then the bottom one is to drain it into the pipeline. I would like to mount it upside down. My three peice airlock fits perfect in what would now be the top nipple. Pull the beer out of he side nipple as this will be above the trub. Then drain the waste out of the bottom nipple. I have silicone hoses and stainless valves to fit everything and everything can be cleaned and sanitized since it is made to be used for milk anyway. The only concern I can think of light, but I see that you can buy glass fermenters anyway so I wonder how big of a deal that even is. Any input would be appreciated.
