I put my fermenting vessels in a cooler. I keep cool using ice bottle, T shirts, and water In the cooler. I’d like to be able to know the temp of my wort or at The water least inside the cooler without the process of dripping water everywhere, exposing it to more light, etc. Can I use and ink bird to do this?

Sure, the manufacturer states the thermometer is waterproof/submersible.

Keep in mind, active fermentation inside the vessel can be ~10F warmer than ambient (if in open air, not sure what it would be if the carboy is partially submerged/covered with a wet shirt, etc.)

Ideally, a thermowell in the carboy would be much more accurate than a reading from inside the cooler.

TL;DR - go for it.

thanks looking for alternatives too. I know about temps being different during fermentation.
is there a Theremowell for a 1 gallon carboy or small bigmouth bubbler?
