Hi All,

Just wondering If I would be able to use an old fridge with an external temperature controller with probe to use this as a controlled fermentation environment for sauerkraut & kombucha?

Note the temps in my house can get up to 35 degrees celcius, hence why I am after a cheap controlled environment.

Cheers,
Brendon

Yes this is commonly done, although I don't have any personal experience with it.

This heater is specifically designed for that purpose. The only word of caution would be that Kombucha (at least) needs fresh air, so I'd make sure to open and get some fresh air flowing at least once a day.

If you don't want to deal with an old fridge, you can also get a brew belt and wrap it around your jars.
