I wanted to get feedback on options for fermenting with a fridge. I am in a cold environment -40c in Winter and +20c in summer and basement is not consistent.

Questions:
How do I use a fridge. Set the temp in the fridge and let it go or do i need to add the ridge controller that turns the fridge on and off as needed.

I use a chest freezer and an another upright freezer for serving and fermenting. With my temp controller, I can keep one cooled for serving, and the other hooked up to a heating pad for fermenting. With the good seal, you'd be surprised how well the heating pad keeps a fridge warm inside, ideal for fermenting. With your cold temps, I highly recommend the heating pad when heat is needed.
