hi there,
i plan on doing a kolsch with a lager yeast. any suggestions on the yeast i should use. i have czech pils and bavarian on hand but picking up a new pack is certainly not out of the question. i'm trying to keep that nice kolsch profile close to the same just with that nice dry crispness of a lager.
i'm sure a kolsch lager has been done before, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Yea you could use the pils or bavarian lager. I'm looking at Ray Daniels "Designing Great Beers" and according to this it says that both of thoes strains were used in second round beers in the NHC. So that says to me you could make a great kolsch with either one!

thanks for the input. i think i will go with the bavarian. but you're right from what i have read it's pretty much a flip of a coin.
