hi!!
I’ve always really liked Guinness draught in bottle or cans which have the nitro pod which releases when the can or bottle is open (but I don’t remember noticing the nitro pod in bottles/cans recently but it’s got that creamy nitro affect either way).
Not talking about guinness Stout btw although that’s a good one too it’s not the same creamy nitro drought version.

So basically I’m trying to avoid having my beer barged from the other side of the world from ireland, for the sake of energy saving basically.

I google stuff like nitro beer , american version of guinness, etc but only found one so far domestic but it uses dairy and I’ve been vegan over 6.5 years so I need a vegan beer (BTW guinness a few years ago replaced isinglass [fish bladder] filtering and their FAQ now says the beer is vegan so that’s good.

I want it in cans/bottle, not keg or at a bar. If I can order online somehow would be ok or maybe I have to ask a liquor store to special order it.

I have no preference other than it’s a dark creamy nitro-type beer. If there’s something already that exists popular that has the same effect but without nitro, then that would be fine too. thank you

btw guinness recently opened Guinness Brewery Relay, Maryland, but it’s a small place and like a restaurant so I doubt they are pumping out guinness drought there to be stocked in US liquor stores

Welcome highhat123! This is a pretty thorough first post if I do say so myself.

Does it have to be Guinness or are you open to other dark creamy nitro-type beers? The vegan bit throws me off a bit because most of the suggestions I was going to make typically have lactose in them.

Any NY folks have some ideas of packaged stuff this guy can look for? jammery nathanmiller MikeG gregkoko

Thought we'd try something new and see if we can be helpful here. Cheers

Kegs of Guinness come from Ireland, but the bottles and cans we drink in the US are actually made in Canada.

Only beer I thought of was Nitro Carton of Milk stout, but further review shows that it has lactose in it, which I assume makes it non-vegan friendly.

First thing that came to mind. Looks like it's available in NYC as well. No lactose in this either (just vanilla).

Not sure it makes it out to NYC but also Wasatch Nitro Polygamy Porter.

Granted these aren't Irish-style beers technically... they are nitro and don't contain lactose.

Cheeeeers.

awesome, thanks that's a decent amount of options, and I will confirm if Guinness cans/bottles sold in us are actually made in Canada.

yea Justin, I do have drums, guitars, synths etc,

someone on another forum says
"If you're concerned about being green, I'd be more worried about a can that has the nitro module in it rendering the can non-recyclable than the minimal cost of shipping beer from Ireland. Most if not all canned nitro beers have that module. "

but I usually get glass 6 or 12 pack anyway, even if this is true about it not being recyclable.

Don't listen to hippies. If that was the case, it would be a >gigantic< issue.

^ yea I dunno what that person was saying that they're not recyclable, I thought they meant the whole can lining or something but that little plastic widget , as you linked, shouldn't pose a problem.
I do know window glass mixed with glass recyclables can ruin a batch but this is different.
I mean I could wiggle the can back and forth and break it in 2 and remove the widget but probably unnecessary.

And I checked the packages of 12 pk bottles and 4 pk cans last night and they are 'Product of Ireland/ Brewed in Ireland', not in Canada someone mentioned. edit actually they posted a screen shot of yes it is sometimes but seldom brewed in Canada.
