hello everyone
If you were to bottle a batch that has reached its FG but has not flocculated, will this cause bottle bombs or just super cloudy beer?

First off,it depends on the flocculation rate of the particular yeast. Secondly,it also depends on whether you made sure it hit a stable FG. At that point,it should flocculate & settle out to whatever degree the yeast is bred to do.

If your botteling right after the fg,your most likely going to have green beer without it conditoning much, your going to be waiting probably much longer in the bottle for them to conditon and taste right.
Besides it may floculate by lettting it sit longer,it happens often in my beers,as well as a good amount of bottle conditioning.

i am using a belgian yeast with a low flocculation,I def hit a stable FG did the 3 day test Whats your opinion?

cloudy/hazy beer does not bother me at all, all im worried about is bottle bombs..i plan on bottle conditioning for a few months regardless

Low flocculation yeast will take some doing to get clear. Unless it's some kind of wheat ale,or you used a wheat beer yeast. Then it'll be a little cloudy. What kind of beer?

ok...well if I take you literally....and I am going to by the way.....when you say "it has reached it FG"...then you have officially answered your own question fine sir!

You are fine. You will only get bottle bombs if you don't reach fg or you add too much priming sugar. I does not matter how much yeast is in there just the amount of food they have to eat.

final gravity = unless you add some soprt of amalayse enzyme into the mix/beano, then the fermentable sugars are all gone and/or your yeast has reached its final attenuation level. of course.....creating more fermentable sugars or dropping a beano tab into your beer at bottling will be quite amusing....4th of July!!!

i dont feel like i answered my own question, cause my question was about flocculation more so then FG..cause right now in my fermenter the beer has reaches its FG but all this yeast is still in solution im wondering if when i add the priming sugar will the yeast take off and explode my bottles?

thanks everyone for the help, Im just gonna let it sit 1 more week for a total of 1 month primary and bottle clear or not..thanks again yall

FG will tell you at what point the beer will be done fermenting & begin to flocculate. So they do go hand in hand. As long as you have a stable FG,you shouldn't get bottle bombs.
Going back to my Burton ale example,it's been through that & in bottles for 3 weeks tomorrow. Not one bottle bomb out of an FG 1.018. So no worries m8. It'll just take more time to settle out clear, which always seems to work faster in the bottles ime.

You're welcome. If you want clearer beer, try a higher flocculation yeast. low flocculating yeasts are harder to clear.

yes i def will be using some high floculating yeast in the future so i can get a quicker turn around , but im also gonna use these belgian yeast, they may take time but belgian beer is my favorite..thanks again peace

nonsense...if you truly don't understand where my humor is coming from then you dont truly understand what "FG" means. bottle bombs are the result of the beer not fermenting completely, and then bottled...aka not at its FG, and then as a result of the bottling process, the yeast get roused and then eat of the remaining sugars....presto...bottle bomb. you said can you get bottle bombs if you have reached FG.....sure...if you prime with too much sugar.....but if you take bottling mishaps out of the equation, then yes, you answered your own question, being "NOOOOO!!!!", FG is FG...there is no other way to slice it. a beer at FG but containing yeast that hasn't flocculated has NOTHING to do with bottle bombs. :ban::ban::ban:

I got the impression the op wasn't sure of that. He then said it was a low flocculation yeast,& finally got it. It's not the speed at which something is learned. But that it is learned at all that matters-I ching.

and yeah....the yeast "will take off", but you want that....its how carbonation happens bro!!! if they didn't do anything, then you are allowed to be worried...but again.....not about bottle bombs. sheesh.

Yo mcaple1 this is the beginner section of the forum, excuse me if im not a brew meister..anyway cheers

right.....which is why I tried to help learn you.....but you got a little angry at me for my "wording" as to how you answered your own question. cheers mate!!!

No bro i did not get angry at all:mug: i apologize is if it sounded like i did..Its a little difficult to convey emotion typing on a forum..cheers bro peace
