Underfilling Kegs OK?

This may be a repetitive question but my Googlefu is weak at the moment.

I am interested in some 2.5 gallon test batches. I have a closet full of 5 gallon kegs. Provided the keg is properly purged and I do my usual closed transfer, I would be able to keg the smaller batch in the larger keg without much problem, yes?

It stands to reason that if I can dispense beer from a keg that is less than half full, I should be able to start from an underfilled perspective and dispense beer without issue. Is my logic sound, there?

Aside from purging there are no intrinsic issues unique to a partially filled keg...

Yeah, it'll work fine. If it's a hop-forward beer you'll want to purge it really really well to avoid oxidative degradation.
