Un-opened StarSan - how long will it last?

A friend who thought he'd get into brewing and then decided not to gave me a container of Star-San that he bought about 2 years ago, but had never opened.

I assume that it is still good to use, but wanted to consult the Knights of the Round Table on this - any pitfalls

Should be fine. If you have the capacity, mix up a batch and take a pH reading, If the pH is below 3 then it's good.

FWIW, I am using my opened container, that has a cracked cap, that I bought 5 years ago..... As long as the mixed pH is below 3 it should be good

A soda bottle cap makes a fine replacement for a cracked cap.

The sure tell sign is to test the PH. Star San is good if it reads under 3.
