Decided that today, the 4th of July, is the perfect time to start brewing. I have been reading posts on here for the past 3 months and decided to take the plunge. My Aluminum pot is oxidizing as I type this. I picked up a 4 gallon at Walmart for 11 bucks... figured that was a good price for a 4 gallon pot. I will be starting out with a Autumn Amber kit from Midwest Supplies. Any hints/tips/tricks you can give me would be much appreciated.

A little bit about my set up. 4 gallon aluminum pot. 6.5 gallon bucket for fermentation. I will be fermenting in the basement. I have been keeping track of the temps in the basement and over the past week, even though it's been 100+ in chicago, my basement never went above 64 degrees so I can't beat that.

Thanks for all the help and I'm happy to be part of the obsession... :mug:

Matt
