Twin Cities brewery recommendations

The wife and I are headed over to the Cities for a Pearl Jam concert :rockin: here in a couple of weeks and, of course, I've gotta check out some of the local breweries while we're there. Surly is definitely on the list and, since we're staying close to the Xcel arena in St. Paul, we'll probably end up at Tin Whiskers and Great Waters too since they're in that same vicinity. Any others that are "can't miss" while we're there? We have a fairly short timeframe, basically just the morning/afternoon on Sunday before the concert that evening.

Just checked out their website, looks good! And all Sunday is happy hour. Bonus!

We're driving over. It's a solid 10 hours, but cheaper than $500 per person to fly outta Rapid City.

I'm not a big fan of Greatwaters but I know they recently changed brewmasters so I don't know what it's like these days.

I can tell you if you're willing to go to Minneapolis, which isn't far away, Northbound Smokehouse has excellent beer and amazing food. Their smokehouse porter is delicious and both the porketta sandwich and wild rice burger is to die for.

Dangerous Man is very good too and if you like Belgian style beers Boom Island Brewing is great! They're all in Minneapolis though.

Surly is a solid choice.
All depends on how far you want to drive. I dont know whats happening so much on the St Paul side of the river, but West of it....
Indeed Brewing in Minneapolis is great. Has a fun tap room.
Dangerous Man isnt that far from that, they are tap room only, so you wont find a bottle of their stuff anywhere.
Steel Toe Brewing is in St Louis Park, just a bit west, on Hwy 100. They are a damn fine brewery. If you hit Steel Toe, you arent far (blocks away) from the Four Firkins beer store, which has just about everything craft beer distributed in the cities.

A brewery/taproom that just opened in NE Mpls is Fair State Brewing Cooperative and they are killing it!

Thanks for all the suggestions. We didn't have a ton of time, but we did hit Day Block for dinner on Saturday (awesome food and a really good Amarillo single hop IPA) and then made our way to Dangerous Man, Indeed and 612. Didn't go to Surly, but brought some cans back with me.

My favorite was definitely Dangerous Man....and apparently it's a lot of peoples favorite because the line to get in was out the door. The other places were fairly busy, but nowhere near the level of DM. The chocolate milk stout and coffee porter at DM were both awesome...even my wife, who hates beer, said that they were "drinkable", which is high praise from her.

Oh, and the Pearl Jam concert was effing awesome...other than the fact that the Xcel Energy Center was selling Bud products for $10 each. Yeah, no thanks.

I read a review of that concert in the Star Trib yesterday. I'm jealous. The review was very favorable.

Not sure if Pearl Jam puts on a bad show. They know what they're doing. 3 hours/32 songs went by in the blink of an eye.
